ABOUT SALLI

As a child, I discovered my passion for music through classical piano and voice lessons. Throughout my teenage years, I continued with private lessons and joined bands in Northern California.

I had the incredible opportunity to study voice and music theory for three years with Judy Davis in Oakland. Judy has taught many renowned artists, including Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Steve Perry, Nat King Cole, and Chris Isaak.

I graduated from Sonoma State University with a degree in Psychology and subsequently earned a Music degree with honors from San Diego State University. At the School of Music & Dance, I developed my skills in piano, music theory, and vocals, taking inspiring classes with Mary Mackenzie, an opera singer and Juilliard graduate, and composer and pianist Dr. David Ward-Steinman. Their exceptional talent and insight motivated me to keep learning and creating. This unique educational experience has been invaluable in helping aspiring musicians build their confidence and creativity. By creating a comfortable and enjoyable learning atmosphere, I’ve fostered long-term dedication in many of my young students.

I also sought to expand my knowledge by attending vocal workshops in Los Angeles, where I learned from esteemed instructors like Elisabeth Howard, a professor at Pepperdine University and founder of The Vocal Power Academy; Lis Lewis, who has worked with No Doubt and Linkin Park; and Seth Riggs, known for teaching Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder.

My interest in songwriting led me to attend various conferences, where I gained insights from industry professionals such as Jai Josefs, a writer for Motown and Disney; Pat Pattison, a Berklee College of Music professor whose students include John Mayer; and Robin Frederick, author of "Shortcuts for Hit Songwriting."

With over 17 years of teaching experience at music academies, studios, schools and my own music education business, sharing my knowledge with others brings me immense joy. I truly love teaching! The greatest reward I receive is watching my students grow in confidence and skill as singers, pianists, and creators.
